Herbivores of the Taiga
All of these species are important, because the death of large animals such as deer and moose provide for a great deal of scavengers and decomposers. Beavers are important because the dams they build create still ponds, which other species sometimes rely on. Conversely, dams block some water species from their preferred breeding sites. Humans normally take trees before beavers can get to them to build their dams.
